From the "Holy Hell That Is A Lot Of Freaking Boost" category, I give you an onboard from a diesel Super Stock pulling tractor.

I wonder how an electric motor would do...

I think you'd have issues with battery size. With tractor pulling there's a max weight limit (for the multi-turbo super stocks like this the heavy class is 9300 lbs). With that weight, the key isn't necessarily torque but tire speed. They regularly see tire speeds above 100 mph, giving ground speeds around 30 mph towing the sled.

You could probably make one work in the Unlimited mod class (ladder frame, no body, anything goes under 8000lbs, hence 4+ motors, turbines, and such) if you could get the batteries/ultra caps light enough and strong enough to last the run

Given how short runs are, I think it'd be possible.

I occasionally shoot photos for some modified tractor pull guys. They're an awesome bunch.

Oh nice! Where is that? Don't see too many with conjoined cranks anymore.

The video I posted is actually my uncle's tractor running the Empire State Pullers circuit in Western NY.

Nice. It was taken in Vermilion, Alberta. I don't think it's actually a conjoined crank - I think it might be a 12-71 ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Detroit_D… ). I have seen a few with conjoined cranks though.

Ah ok.

Thats an odd combo with a Hemi and a wedge. Can't see that working well....

I happen to be partial to the Alisons.

That must be a rather interesting transmission setup in that one.
